a cartoon mind map of ski trip ideas,

Why do we need a blog?

Two reasons:

1. Running a small business is far from ordinary. Some days feel like a perfect day on the mountain—just you, the sun, and the snow—glorious! Other days, it’s the exact opposite: like skiing on unwaxed skis in flat light, with rain soaking you to the core, a lingering knee twinge, and a long, wet slog back to the chalet, questioning your life choices.

2. I love talking to people, especially my customers. Over the past three seasons, I’ve spent countless hours chatting with them (though the Mrs. says I talk too much and don’t work enough).

So, it occurred to me: why not procrastinate a little more and write a blog? I’ll share ski and small business musings, and I promise you’ll get some nonsense mixed in! I’m no gear junkie, but I do know what works for ski servicing. I’ve taken courses, talked to industry pros, and found methods that deliver results. While I don’t know every ski brand inside and out, I’ve seen recurring issues in skier habits, kit wear, and common repairs. Plus, I love hearing about both the triumphs and struggles of my customers—on and off the slopes.

I’m not a Freeride World Tour enthusiast, and I don’t have the guts to take on a 40ft drop. I’m perfectly capable of injuring myself on gentle slopes or losing fingers in the workshop! But I love skiing, even though I don’t go as often as I’d like. I prefer maintaining my own gear and enjoy learning new skills, and now, I want to share my experiences with you.

This blog will cover everything from the thrill of skiing to the ups and downs of small business life. Expect ski tips, industry trends, waxing advice, sustainable travel, small business marketing, Google rankings for startups, and more. I’ll even throw in resort talk—whether it’s Courchevel, St. Gervais, or a fun time in Bansko.

So, whether you’re planning your next family ski trip or navigating the rollercoaster of entrepreneurship, this blog has something for you.
